"Composing in the 21st Century"

Kathleen Blake Yancey, Kellogg W. Hunt Professor English, Director of the Graduate Porgram in Rhetoric and Composition at Florida State University, Past Chair of the Conference on College Composition and Communication, current President of the National Council of Teachers of English, energized participants at the 2008 Great Plains Alliance for Computers and Writing, held November 7-8 at Iowa State University, Ames, IA. In her keynote address on "The Difference Delivery: Composing in the 21st Century," she traced historically the many definitions and redefinitions of writing as a technology, a social activity, a disciplinary body of knowledge, and a metaphor for a complex set of multimodal communication interactions.
