Iowa Central Community College Credits ISUComm for Multimodal Pedagogy Award

Two-Year College Association (TYCA) National Research Project Recognition

Last year in the TYCA National Research Project Survey, the Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) Language Arts Department was nominated for exemplary presence or initiatives in teaching with technology. In particular, ICCC was cited for incorporating multimodal compositions into its curriculum. Leslie Roberts, a member of the TYCA Midwest Regional Executive Committee, who is conducting follow-up interviews with exemplary programs in order to provide data for advocacy initiatives as well as guidelines for developing programs at other two-year colleges, interviewed Martha Bailie, Jennifer Condon, Julie Hoesel, and Amy Simpson at the October 2007 TYCA Midwest Regional Conference in Chicago. The committee's goal is to showcase programs like ICCC's in sessions at CCCC in New Orleans in April 2008.

In the interview our colleagues at ICCC were kind enough to credit ISUComm for its leadership and collegiality in promoting multimodal communication across the curriculum at community colleges as well as at ISU through professional workshops and informational meetings.
