Directions for Writing, Saving, and Submitting Your Work for Macintosh Computers
To write and save your reflection
- Enter your netID and password to access the desktop.
- Open a new blank document in Microsoft Word.
- Go to "Save as" in the File menu.
- Name your reflection file according to the directions under Submission on your activity instruction sheet.
- Select "desktop" as the location to save your file and click "Save."
- Save as you write; then when completely finished, do a final save, and close your file.
To submit your reflection
- Access the classfiles network
- Double click on the “Connect to Classfiles” launcher icon on the desktop.
- In the log-in box, replace your name with xyourcourseandsectionnumber (e.g., x105rm—ask if you don’t know your section number).
- Enter x as your password, and click connect.
- In the window that appears, open the folder for your class to reveal the Announcements, Discussion, and Drop-box folders.
- With your reflection file closed, click and drag it to the Drop box. You’ll get a message reminding you that you cannot retrieve what you’re “dropping.” Click “OK.”
To save a copy of your own
- Drag the file onto the folder icon on the desktop labeled with your username. This is your permanent ISU storage file (your net-id account space).
- You can also save a copy to a storage device (e.g., flash drive) if you have one with you, or attach it to an email sent to yourself via Webmail.
