Directions for Writing, Saving, and Submitting Your Work for Windows Computers

To write and save your reflection

  • Enter your netID and password to access the desktop.
  • Open a new blank document in Microsoft Word.
  • Go to "Save as" in the File menu.
  • Name your reflection file according to the directions under Submission on your activity instruction sheet.
  • Select "desktop" as the location to save your file and click "Save."
  • Save as you write; then when completely finished, do a final save, and close your file.

To submit your reflection

  • Access the classfiles network
    • Right click on the red N in the lower right corner of the screen.
    • Select "Novell login" at the top of the menu.
    • Enter xyourcourseandsectionnumber as your username (e.g., x104rm—See board if you don't remember this information).
    • Enter x as your password, and click connect.
    • Open the computer icon at the upper left corner of the screen.
  • Open the classfiles drive.
  • Open the folder labeled with your course and section number to reveal the Announcements, Discussion, and Drop-box folders.
  • With your reflection file closed, click and drag it to the Drop box (or right click and "copy to"). If you open the Drop box, you won't see your file because you don't have access to it—don't worry; it's there.

To save a copy of your own

  • In the list of drives in the computer icon in the upper left corner
    • Open the drive labeled with your username. This is your permanent ISU storage file.
    • Click and drag (or right click and "copy to") the file to your folder.
  • You can also save a copy to a storage device (e.g., flash drive) if you have one with you or attach it to an email sent to yourself via Webmail.
